If you run a website, it is likely that they often wonder if it’s the right time to do a total redesign of the structure of your site. Here are some points to consider:

Are you thinking about a new design just for the sake of it? If you answered yes to that question, it is not yet the right time to do a redesign. Remember, a design serves a specific purpose. If you are not sure whether to do a review of your website, keep in mind that your current design could have a specific purpose that you might not know. You will lose that role if you do a redesign.

On the other hand, if your site has had the same web design since 1990, perhaps it is time to do a redesign. The last thing you want to happen to your site is when visitors leave your site without taking a look at its content only because the design is old. If this is your case, here are some points to consider before making a redesign.

The redesign of its website is like performing plastic surgery on it. His website loses its current identity (for better or worse) and its regular visitors might not recognize the new design at first glance. You risk losing just because they thought it landed at the wrong site. It is therefore very important that you keep a feature of its former design. Perhaps it is the logo of your site, maybe it’s the same text style for the title of your site.

To play it safe, put a poll on its website to allow visitors to do the talking. If they think it is necessary for the site to take a fresh look, give it to them!

Your site is where is your business – is like the headquarters of a company offline. Therefore, it is important to practice the principles of good design to make sure that your site reaches the maximum number of visitors and sells to as many people as possible.

Make sure you have clear indications on the navigation of your website. The navigation menu should be clear and concise so that visitors know how to navigate around your website without confusion.

Reducing the number of images on your website. They make your site load very slowly and more often than not are very unnecessary. If you believe that any image is essential on your site, make sure you optimize the image using editing programs so that they have a minimum size of the file.

Keep your text paragraphs in a reasonable time. If an item is too long, you should divide into separate paragraphs so that the text blocks will not be too big. This is important because a block of text that is too large will deter visitors from reading your content.

Make sure that your website complies with the rules in www.w3.org and make sure they are cross-browser compatible. If your website looks great in Internet Explorer but breaks horribly in Firefox and Opera, you lose a lot of potential visitors.

Avoid using scripting languages on your site unless it is absolutely necessary. Use scripting languages to handle or manipulate data, not to create visual effects on your website. Heavy scripts will slow down the loading time of your site and even crash some browsers. Moreover, the scripts are not supported all browsers, so some visitors might miss important information because of this.

Use CSS to style your page content because they save a lot of work by styling all elements on your website in a single step.
